Weekly Maintenance Tips
Exterior Landscaping By Season
- Fall- Raking and bagging leaves, reseed your lawn (hit up those bare spots), final mowing of lawn, remove leaves from gutters/downspouts, winterize your hose bibs, plantings of any new perennials for Spring
- Winter- Snow removal (do it yourself or have snow removal service)
- Spring- Warm weather planting, lawn care, mulch
- Summer- Maintaining lawn care, watering all annuals and perennials, weed
*Depending on the size of your outdoor yard will most likely be the determination if you do this yard work yourself or hire a landscaping company- not to mention time and resources too. Our yard is on the smaller side so we do everything as a family- the kids now know how to mow the lawn too! But, there are many many landscaping businesses in the area- so the best bet would be to get the recommendations from neighbors on the block for who they use.
Clean out your clothes dryer!
Clean out your lint trap every week! Don’t let this get backed up- it can be a fire hazard. We actually save our lint- we make a lot of outdoor and indoor fires and it’s a great “fire starter”- go figure!
General Cleaning
This could be common sense, but if you stay on top of the kitchen, bathroom, floors daily/ weekly the task won’t seem as daunting or time consuming.
Declutter Your Spaces
Take inventory of “stuff” that is just floating around the house and it is not in its proper location. Take a few minutes to get yourself and your space tidy. Also, “declutter” your fridge and freezer. Check expiration dates and don’t hesitate to create room by tossing anything that is past its lifespan!
Carolyn's Two Cents
Maintaining a home is a labor of love, that's for sure. If you mentally map out the tasks that need to be done each month of the year it will feel less overwhelming and you will feel satisfied with the results.
