Some DIY (Do it Yourself) Resources
We are always trying to increase our knowledge and DIY skills. It’s certainly a balancing act by learning how to do repairs/projects yourself versus knowing when to hire help. Gaining the confidence to tackle some projects yourself is the starting point. It might feel overwhelming and unsettling at first, but there are many easy resources and tutorials out there to hold your hand every step of the way. And, quite frankly it can be very rewarding to do these on your own and also save you some coin. Here are some suggested resources:
YouTube
You can literally find thousands of “how to” videos and tutorials on how to do anything and everything on YouTube. These videos can range from how to change your air filters (basic) to how to properly install a ceiling fan yourself (more advanced). One caveat to mention about YouTube is that the information could be coming from any average homeowner, not a trained/certified contractor. If you think you have the time and patience to try and tackle some “do it yourself” projects/repairs yourself, it’s always worth a shot!
This Old House
This Old House is an outstanding resource and provides trusted home improvement information and expert advice to home remodelers and DIY-ers. They range from A-Z of many many different projects a consumer might want to tackle. These are certified professionals who are providing the content and instruction not the average joe! Highly recommended across the board.
